I found myself pondering why the caged bird sings. I have never read the Caged Bird series, but I mean to say that I pondered why a caged bird would sing.
Is it because they are not enlightened? All they know is to sing, and by nature, they sing. Is it because it is what they do no matter what?
Have they considered that they are caged at all? Do they know the difference between caged and freedom? Is it something they have to think about at all? Of course not actually; but think about it. The caged bird sings so joyfully it seems and for what reason? It is caged. It is not free. It is enclosed. It cannot fly to heights unknown.
It is not free.
Why does the caged bird sing?
I have thought about this idea many times, and many times I come up with a different reply; I think there are many reasons the caged bird sings, and that in and of itself is the optimism that also motivates the caged bird to sing. 😉
