When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness
The US Currency (including the updated version) has the words ‘In God We Trust’.
I am confused. The Declaration of Independence clearly states that we have been given certain rights by God that we are free to pursue, hence, the revolution. Our nation was built on the understanding that we are taking back the rights that our Creator gave to us. Our currency clearly states ‘In God We Trust’.
And yet the Pledge of Allegiance is no longer in our schools? Because of what? The ‘one nation under God’ line? Is that not what we were established as???
This is our pledge. Our nation. If others want to come in to our country and enjoy our freedoms with us, they have the freedom of choice not to say it, but why ban it altogether? What have we come to that honor and allegiance is no longer valued?
When I was in school, any child that did not want to say the pledge for whatever reason were not forced to do so; what is so wrong with that system?
We are contradictory in the way we govern our nation and it is not what the founding fathers had in mind I’m sure.
No wonder we can’t get shit right; we can’t even keep a straight story on our views on God.
If there are those that want to complain about the use of God in the allegiance, they should complain about the ‘certain unalienable rights’ that our Declaration of Independence says our Creator [God] has given us. Throw it out. It’s no good. It mentions God.
